Improved ergonomic control

510 Kardiac Devices
LTS   (Lim Transseptal System)

510 KD engineered innovative catheter steering and locking mechanisms to more effectively perform a complex heart procedure - by safely passing a catheter from the heart's right atrium through a transseptal puncture to access the left atrium. 3D CAD models were prepared for fabrication of screwed together machined models used for in vivo testing.

510 KD sought our human factors expertise and experience to design an ergonomic handle to complement their inner workings. Our integration of contoured rotatable controls, an ergonomically formed body and articulated locking lever imparted stable comfortable grip postures, intuitive manipulation, and precise positional accuracy.

They also sought our support to design and engineer all inner & outer plastic components for effective production injection molding and assembly. Lap joints with strategically configured energy directors ensured intimately aligned and secure ultrasonic welding. We additionally coordinated offshore tooling and molding from among our preferred/established vendors. With a single round of intentionally planned metal-safe tooling adjustments, pilot production parts were expedited in preparation for pre-clinical trials.
